The Bahamas Cays and its marine life are very close to Oliver and Rose’s heart. With Rose’s family connection to the islands, LOVE BRAND & Co. is proud to support The Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation (BREEF) and their work conserving the local marine environment in the Bahamas.
“LOVE BRAND & Co. are helping with coral restoration and introducing the wonders of swimming and the incredible underwater world to children who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity. Thank you!”
We focus our support on coral reef restoration and education. BREEF’s work has inspired many of our iconic coral and marine prints. Coral reefs remain under serious threat and are especially vulnerable to warming waters due to climate change. Globally, 80% of live corals have died in the last 50 years. Particularly low-lying archipelagic nations like The Bahamas are at most risk.
Restoring and protecting coral reefs is very important for the health of the marine environment and livelihoods. A structurally diverse reef can provide a multitude of habitats for species. Healthy reefs also reduce wave energy by 95%, protecting the coastline during major storms.
Through a combination of policy, outreach, and educational activities with the Eco-Schools programme and grass-roots conservation with coral reef restoration initiatives, BREEF is helping protect and ensure the future of the beautiful marine environment of the low-lying Bahamian islands.
