Positioned on one of the finest pink sand beaches in the Bahamas, The Potlatch Club is the very definition of privacy and seclusion. The 5-star luxury resort feels more like escaping to a close friend's beach house, with its laid-back island vibes wrapped in an air of tranquillity. “This is a place where you really don’t have to ‘do’ anything, it’s a place where you can just ‘be’”
The Potlatch Club, The Bahamas
Uncovering a Legendary Past
The Potlatch Club’s story begins in the 1960s when three East Coast socialites envisioned a private paradise for their inner circle. They brought royalty, movie stars, and musicians to the Bahamian shores, making the club an exclusive retreat for the world’s most glamorous. Elizabeth Taylor and Greta Garbo were among those who sought its serenity, and in 1969, Paul and Linda McCartney even honeymooned here. So enchanted by the peace and privacy, Sir Paul even penned two Beatles classics on the resort’s notepaper - ‘She Came in Through the Bathroom Window’ and ‘Oh! Darling.’
Regardless of the many famous faces that frequented the resort, nature reclaimed the retreat and it faded into a memory. That was until Jamaica-based Bruce Loshusan and his business partner Hans Febles stumbled across the club in 2016 and uncovered its legendary past.
Despite being overtaken by the jungle, the pair saw the potential in the 12-acre grounds and embarked on a restoration project that took seven years to complete. The result? A breathtaking tropical retreat where tranquillity reigns and the beach remains blissfully empty, save for you and your loved ones.
Slow Living at Its Finest
The Potlatch Club is made up of two villas, three garden suites and six cottages surrounded by lush tropical gardens. Each is spacious, stylish and has a contemporary take on classic Caribbean design. Working with Bahamian designer Amanda Lindroth, Febles and Loshusan infused the resort with an air of island escapism. Shiplap ceilings, rattan beds, and breezy, sun-kissed interiors ooze island vibes.
The resort invites a slow, unhurried pace. Take a stroll along the beach at dusk, watching the sun melt into the Atlantic, or kick off your espadrilles and splash in the warm lapping waves. Or simply relax on the sand as the resort brings you a tailored picnic freshly prepared by its chefs.
Island Flavours & Sundowners
For a taste of the island, The Fig Tree, the resort’s restaurant, is named after the ancient banyan tree shading its terrace. Here, fresh local ingredients meet Asian-inspired flavours in a menu that changes with the rhythms of the sea and land. Meanwhile, The Sand Bar is the perfect spot for a sundowner cocktail, best enjoyed while lounging by the pool, toes in the water, mind adrift.
Life here is effortlessly relaxed, and guests are encouraged to dine in shorts and flip-flops, making LOVE BRAND & Co. the perfect wardrobe companion.
“I’ll never forget seeing [the beach] for the first time, I got goosebumps. I’d never seen a beach so spectacularly romantic in my life.”
Bruce Loshusan, The Potlatch Club Co-Owner to British Vogue, October 2024
