The Inspiration
The exclusive mens swim shorts capsule collection is a love letter to the majestic manta ray and the sparkling turquoise hues of the Indian Ocean. Each design invites you to plunge into crystalline waters where manta rays leap playfully across sunlit waves.
Conceptualised by LOVE BRAND & Co. founder Oliver Tomalin, the two bespoke designs serve a dual purpose: raising awareness about marine conservation and supporting vital research in the Seychelles. This research primarily concerns the essential work undertaken as part of the Seychelles Manta Ray Project (SMRP).
The Design
The capsule collection features mens swim shorts in two captivating designs: print and embroidery. The embroidered Staniel swimming shorts showcase vibrant turquoise rays gracefully dancing in pastel blue waters, while the printed Staniel swimming shorts display a mesmerising kaleidoscope of emerald and white manta rays, intertwining as if in a tender embrace. This collection perfectly captures the enchanting spirit of the tropics and these marvellous marine creatures.
Manta Ray Conservation
Over the past 75 years, manta ray populations have dwindled due to by-catch and targeted fishing practices. Due to their prolonged life history characteristics, these unsustainable pressures have put these gentle giants at risk of extinction.
Yet, in the Seychelles, manta rays find a sanctuary free from being targetted, offering a unique opportunity to study and protect this enigmatic species. Thanks to the SMRP, over 470 manta rays have been photo-identified, revealing vital data about their habitats and behaviours.
A Partnership With Explorations Company

A Helping Hand
In line with Explorations Company’s dedication to philanthropic travel, every journey booked to the Seychelles through them will see 2.5% of the trip's value donated to the Alphonse Foundation in support of the Seychelles Manta Ray Project. Likewise, LOVE BRAND & Co. has pledged to donate a minimum of £1,000 this year, to further bolster the preservation of the magnificent rays.
“Conscious travel that allows one to make a direct contribution to the region is at the core of what we do at Explorations Company. We’re committed to protecting our planet and therefore it’s a joy to join forces with a like-minded, responsible brand like LOVE BRAND & Co. to help raise awareness of the brilliant work currently being undertaken as part of the Seychelles Manta Ray Project.
Not only do we love this capsule collection, we hope future clients will (love and) get to wear it when they travel with us to magical destinations like the Seychelles, where we offer the opportunity to be involved in such projects, making a positive contribution all whilst enjoying oneself on holiday.”
