Have you ever swum with a Spotted Eagle Ray? With a wingspan of up to 11 feet, they are the second-largest ray on the planet, second only to the manta ray. This majestic, sleek and flattened fish has gracefully cruised earth’s seas for 150 million years. And despite their global presence, rays are categorised as 'near-threatened' on the IUCN Red List.
As with all of our prints this season, we are helping protect the beautiful marine life in The Bahamas and supporting our charity partners WidAid and local charity partner BREEF and their work conserving The Bahamas as a sanctuary for over 500 species of shark and ray.
Oliver was inspired by marine photographer Shane Gross and a particular photo of a Spotted Eagle Ray in Harbour Island. Oliver saw letters from the alphabet in the natural markings of this unmistakable ray. And with a bit of poetic designer’s license, Oliver adapts some of the markings to create the word love cleverly hidden in the ray markings. Can you spot ‘Love’ in our latest print ‘Ray Writing’?
