At Love Brand, we put extra care into our craftsmanship and material selection to ensure that your swim trunks last as long as possible. Treat them with the same thoughtful attention they were made with, and they will reward you with lasting elegance.

Sunshine, saltwater, chlorine and sunscreen can all take their toll on swimwear over time. But a few simple steps can help preserve the colour, shape and quality of your swim trunks, ready for countless seaside adventures.

Here are our handy tips for keeping your swim shorts in pristine condition.

Step 1: Rinse after every use

Chlorine, salt and sunscreen can all take their toll on swimwear, weakening fabric and fading colours over time. That’s why it’s essential to rinse your trunks after every dip.

It doesn’t need to be an intensive wash, just a quick rinse in fresh cold water to get the bulk of the salt or chlorine off. Rinsing under the tap or shower in cold water will work a treat.

Step 2: Wash properly when home

A quick rinse won’t get everything off, so it’s best to give trunks a proper wash when you get back home. Hand washing is always best as it's the gentlest option. Wash in a sink with cool water and a small amount of eco-friendly detergent. Avoid bleach and harsh cleaning products, as these can damage the fabric and fade those all-important prints.

Machine washing is also fine, but there are a few extra steps you’ll need to take. Wash trunks inside out on a cool wash, ideally 30°C, again using an eco-friendly detergent. Wash with similar colours and don't wash with heavy items such as jeans, towels and anything with Velcro, as these could all cause damage to the delicate fabric.

Step 3: Dry naturally

The best way to dry your trunks is naturally. Ideally, dry in a shaded, well-ventilated spot, as UV exposure can cause colours to fade.

Can you put swim trunks in the dryer? No. Heat can shrink waistbands and damage the fabric.

Step 4: Store properly

Now that your trunks are washed and dry, store them flat or fold them loosely in a drawer. Avoid compressing them or packing them tightly, as this can warp the fabric over time.

Follow these tips, and your swimming trunks will be ready for use season after season.
