LOVE BRAND & CO. have teamed up with the pioneers of luxury travel A&K, to celebrate their 60th anniversary. To mark this noteworthy occasion, LOVE BRAND & Co. founder, Oliver Tomalin, has designed six exclusive prints, each representing a sentimental place to A&K's founder, Geoffrey Kent. This print depicts traditional Chinese lanterns which signify prosperity, good luck and vitality.
Since A&K's first expedition to China in 1979, they have established themselves as a world renowned travel company working out of over 10 countries in Asia. With once in a lifetime experiences in some of the most scenic rural landscapes on earth, to the intense bustling of mega-cities, A&K's tours of China have an unparalleled array of escapades for the discerning traveller. Each experience will tantalise your senses, from cooking classes of traditional Chinese delicacies with families in Yunnan, to the sounds of the Silk Road.
Throughout Chinese history, lanterns have symbolised new life, wealth and vitality. Since as far back as the Han Dynasty (206 BCE to 220 CE), on the fifteenth day of the lunar New year, Buddhust monks have lit lanterns to honour the Buddha and this tradition has in more recent centuries been adopted throughout China. Specifically red lanterns have been used in wedding ceremonies and other events to connote prosperity and a time for celebration. Our 'Lucky Lanterns' print illustrates red lanterns upon an ocean blue background, which is the colour signifying immortality in Chinese culture.
The print is available exclusively in our Staniel Swimming Trunks for men, and is perfectly paired with our Ocean Blue Galliot cotton shirt for a put-together evening look on the beach, or for a casual day at the pool, pair it with our Watermelon Lockhart T-Shirt.
