We are so proud to announce that this year Love Brand is supporting The Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation (BREEF) as they work hard to conserve marine life in the Bahamian reefs. BREEF’s incredible work has inspired many of this season's prints.
Coral Reef Decline
It is reported that over the last 50 years, there has been an 80% decline in live coral worldwide. BREEF is committed not only to protecting the Bahamian reefs but also to educating locals on the marine ecosystems. From providing education for Bahamians to be stewards of the environment and advocating for marine conservation policy, to actively restoring reef habitat and representing the region internationally, BREEF’s continued mission to conserve the Bahamian marine environment is one that we admire.
Supporting Sharks
It is estimated that 100 million sharks are killed each year at the hands of humans. A wide variety of shark species are threatened with extinction across the globe and BREEF is fighting to combat this threat. BREEF places an emphasis on great hammerhead sharks who are integral to the marine ecosystem and play an important role in maintaining a healthy marine environment. Sharks are not only important for the health of the complex ecosystems, but they also help to bring in income via local tourism, as divers from all around the world come to observe these magnificent creatures.
Inspiring Education
BREEF is running an education programme which specifically supports shark conservation, teaching younger generations to appreciate the often-misunderstood creature.
We are thrilled to be working with BREEF on this crucial cause, through their education programmes, policy building, public support growth and their hands-on work beneath the surface. Protecting this beautiful part of the natural world is one that is close to our hearts and we are proud to be a part of the solution.
