LOVE BRAND & Co. unites with the iconic Peligoni Club, conserving local seals on the brink of extinction.
The Peligoni Club in Zakynthos is a barefoot luxury beach club designed for fun-loving, laid-back globetrotters in search of delicious food, friendly staff and a fuss-free holiday. With an action-packed kids club and activity plan 'PACE', the Peligoni Club is a firm family holiday favourite.
The LOVE BRAND & Co. exclusive collection is inspired by the club's chic essence and the pristine blue hues of the Ionian sea. The playful print ‘Sealed with a Kiss’ features an abundance of sunbathing seals, but these beautiful seals are not so easily found in the wild today.
Our partnership is raising awareness the plight of the critically endangered Mediterranean Monk Seals and jointly supporting the conservation with a local charity; the Ionian Environment Foundation.
These seals were once spotted swimming and sun bathing all around the shores of Greece and were considered a good omen by seafarers but Mediterranean Monk Seals are one of the most critically endangered marine mammals in the world today.
The species is threatened with extinction due the human pressure on their natural habitat and their future depends on the protection of their remaining habitats as a strong hold and continued monitoring. Stretches of the north coastline in Zakynthos and the coves and caves near the Peligoni Club, are of considerable importance to their survival in the wild.
With more awareness, together with the Ionian Environment Foundation, we can help turn the tide and help rebuild local seal populations. The essence of the Ionian Environment Foundation's work is to provide support and guidance for on the ground conservation projects which engage local communities to protect their own local environment.This type of ‘bottom-up’ approach is a sustainable solution to helping conserve the island's natural heritage now and for future generations.
