Safeguarding a Future for Vulnerable Species in Antigua

This season, we’re supporting Antigua & Barbuda Environment Foundation (ABEF), part of the Conservation Collective, to help protect vulnerable species in Antigua.

We are proud to be supporting the ABEF, an organisation quietly leading some of the islands’ most vital conservation efforts. Their work is rooted in the community, driven by local knowledge, and focused on protecting what makes these islands so unique.

Love Brand’s support will go towards helping important grassroots conservation work across Antigua and Barbuda. From protecting key species such as the Hawksbill Turtle and the Magnificent Frigate Bird, to empowering the next generation of leaders through environmental education and outreach programs.

Hawksbill Turtles

For centuries, Hawksbill turtles have happily nested on Antigua’s beaches, playing a vital role in the health of the surrounding marine ecosystems. Today, their journey is becoming increasingly uncertain. Rising temperatures, coastal development, and beach erosion are putting their nesting sites at risk.

Groups such as ABEF work tirelessly to relocate vulnerable nests, monitor hatchlings and educate locals to help create safer environments for nesting turtles.

Magnificent Frigate Birds

High above the coastline, magnificent frigate birds can be seen gliding through the skies, recognisable by their large size, two-pronged forked tails and long bent wings. During mating season, males inflate their vivid red throat pouches, which is definitely a sight to behold.

While not classified as endangered, frigate birds in Antigua are legally protected and highly vulnerable to environmental changes. Habitat disruption and shifting ecosystems pose growing risks. Through protection measures and awareness initiatives, groups like ABEF are helping to ensure these iconic birds continue to soar and inspire future print designs at Love Brand!

Together, we’re supporting local efforts that are vital to safeguarding the islands’ unique biodiversity. We’re dedicated to channelling new sources of funding to strengthen local initiatives that protect and restore nature and investing in a more resilient future for Antigua and Barbuda. That’s one where wildlife thrives, communities are engaged, and the natural beauty of the islands continues to flourish for generations to come.

Turtle Prints

To celebrate global turtle conservation efforts, we have new turtle prints. The ‘Turtle Story’ and ‘Turtle Chain Reaction’ prints evoke the colours of the Caribbean and tell the powerful story of ecological links and interconnectedness of sea turtles. As always, every pair of swimming trunks is sustainably crafted in Europe from post-consumer recycled waste and printed by sublimation with no waste.

All of our prints are hand-drawn by our founder, Oliver, inspired by conservation work, travels and our wonderful world. To view our full print portfolio, click here.
